boueibu: beppu character song cover star map
@fortune-maiden asked on this post:

This looks to be a (slightly to moderately squished? or is it perspective?) star map of some of the classic Western constellations of the northern sky. For the most part, it’s a straight one-to-one map, centred on the North Star.
Specifically, you can see Gemini, the twins, hanging out just behind Haru, quite central. :D Also there is the source of the Perseid meteor shower, just between Perseus and Auriga, but I wouldn’t know anything about that. (cough)
Constellations in view, top to bottom. Many have particularly bright stars marked on the cover art:

#hmm I wonder if we can make out any of the constellations in the background ^^I AM HAPPY TO OBLIGE all my lying on rocks on the beach in the dark was not for nothing, cries

Constellations in view, top to bottom. Many have particularly bright stars marked on the cover art:
- Columba, the dove.
- Canis Major, the great dog. Contains Sirius, the brightest star in the sky.
- Puppis, the poop deck? (Don’t laugh.) Possibly? TBH until today I had no idea this constellation even existed - apparently it was split off from Argo Navis, the ship of Jason and the Argonauts.
- Lepus, the hare.
- Orion, the hunter. Contains the bright stars Betelgeuse and Rigel.
- Eridanus, the river - possibly a corner of it?
- Taurus, the bull - just his legs sticking out.
- Gemini, the twins. (:D! - though note Castor and Pollux, the actual twin stars, are tucked behind Haru’s head)
- Auriga, the charioteer. Contains the bright multiple star Capella.
- Andromeda, the daughter of Cassiopeia. Might possibly also be part of Pegasus, the winged horse.
- Perseus, the Greek mythological hero who killed the Medusa
- Cassiopeia, the vain queen, mother of Andromeda.
- Cepheus, king of Aethiopia in Greek mythology. Married to Cassiopeia, father of Andromeda.
- Ursa Minor, the Little Bear. Contains Polaris, the North Star.
- Hercules, the Roman mythological hero.
- Corona Borealis, the Northern crown.
- Boötes, the herdsman. (possibly - it’s been pushed down a lot if it is.)
