boueibu: beppu character song cover star map

#hmm I wonder if we can make out any of the constellations in the background ^^

This looks to be a (slightly to moderately squished? or is it perspective?) star map of some of the classic Western constellations of the northern sky. For the most part, it’s a straight one-to-one map, centred on the North Star.

Specifically, you can see Gemini, the twins, hanging out just behind Haru, quite central. :D Also there is the source of the Perseid meteor shower, just between Perseus and Auriga, but I wouldn’t know anything about that. (cough)

Translation: “☆Star☆The☆ VEPPer☆” (Boueibu S2)

Okay, first off this was really hard to translate in several places and mistakes are guaranteed. Please point any out that you see; thanks!

Second... this is tagged for spoilers because there are spoilers for the rest of the series here, or I'm a cup of tea. There are even two lines that appear in the lyric sheet but are cut from the song as released; those are down after the translation for the curious.

Third... this is the VEPPer transformation theme, of course (or so it has so far been used), and it's by far the most interesting thing I've seen yet about series 2. Want your Tanabata references? You got 'em. Want your twins-are-stars-or-aliens reality manipulation references? You got' em. Want your Kinatsu references? They're here.

They're spelling 二つ futatsu, "two of ", with the kanji 双 sou, "pair", which seems to be almost nonstandard? It crops up in a very few contexts.
那由多 nayuta is a Buddhist term meaning "a vast number", usually thought to be 100 million. It's usually spelt 那由他.
They also do the spelling-it-earth-but-pronouncing-it-planet thing from "Love Is Power!".

Translation: “Futten Toppa ☆ LOVE IS POWER ☆” (Boueibu S2 OP)

First, you can hear the song here, courtesy of @d4ftka. Thanks! Lyrics are from utamap.com. It's a Boueibu OP, ofc, and that means it's full of gratuitous Japlish and kanji puns:

愛変わらず aikawarazu, usually spelt 相変わらず - means "the same as always", but here ai is spelt with the kanji for "love", making it mean “unchanging love”. 水入らず mizuirazu, meaning "without outsiders", literally means "without entering the water" or "out of the water".
フットバス futtobasu - literally, footbath! There's also a verb 吹っ飛ぶ futtobu, like the buttobasu it's paired with in Ryuu's line here, meaning "to blow away/blow up", like in an explosion. I went with "blow away" for the primary translation based just on how it would sound, but pick whichever you like best.
ARE 湯 (yu) READY? - "you" spelt with the kanji yu for hot bathwater.
There's a point where the lyric is written 地球 chikyuu (Earth, as in chikyuu boueibu - Earth Defence Club, duh), but pronounced hoshi (planet).

In places I've nerfed the Japlish to a straight transliteration where it really doesn't match the pronunciation (e.g. "HEART" to "haato")

So last night me,

nardaviel had a huge (and very fun) Twitter argument about the nature of Mu. Which I then wrote up for the DN Wiki, largely based on Libby's summary of Mu.

I figured (a) it might interest some of you gaiz, and (b) you're all smart enough to point out where I've got it wrong—so, haz.
( "where is mu" turns out to be the wrong question )

icon post! whee!

Someone was asking after Light RP icons, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Varying degrees of quality, lulziness, and so on. Textless icons are not bases, you'll probably feel like a better person if you credit, etc, etc. I ripped these straight out of my own RP journals, so if I got anyone else's by mistake I'm incredibly sorry, just point it out and I'll remove it. >.>
